This past May the Office of Youth, Young Adult, and Campus Ministry worked in collaboration with the Faith Formation and Mission Office to host a Young Adult Listening Session in the Charleston area. During this event, we identified there was a need and a want for more consistent opportunities to gather as a community. In September, young adults from the Charleston area gathered for an evening of fellowship, burritos, and an opportunity to Stump the Priest. Father Brian Crenwelge joined 18 young adults at Black Sheep Burrito in downtown Charleston to answer their questions ranging from topics about the crusades, the outcomes of Vatican II, and the Sacraments. Stump the Priest created a fruitful evening to grow in both community and knowledge of the Catholic faith. Our office is excited to see this community of young adults grow as they continue to meet this fall on a monthly basis. If you know any young adults in the Charleston area that want to be pulled into this ministry, contact Morgan Yost at email@example.com.
TEC Collaboration and Renewal
Following a spring retreat for leaders of the three TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) communities in WV, we are moving forward with an exciting joint effort. Billy O'Regan (the executive director of the National TEC Conference) led a weekend of reflection, fellowship, and visioning where leaders of TEC from throughout the state had a chance to pray, learn, and plan. One of the fruits of this weekend was the decision to join the efforts of our three TEC communities into one for increased synergy and to better utilize our volunteers and resources (TEC pun intended). Through this, we are excited to share that Country Roads TEC was born! Country Roads TEC will hold weekends at locations rotating throughout the state starting with Country Roads TEC #1 on November 10-12th in Charleston for young people who are Juniors in high school through 21 years old. If you know someone who is interested in attending, want more general information, or have been on TEC before and would like to offer 'Wheat" for the weekend, please check out the website.
