April 24th, 2019 Materials Needed: Chairs, participants, one giant beach ball
How To Play: Create a volleyball court using chairs as your boundary lines and your net. You can make the court as big or as small as you want. The lower number of participants you have the tighter I would make the court. Having a little open space makes for a more challenging game but having too much makes it almost impossible. This game runs like a game of volleyball. You give the ball to one side of the court and tell them to serve it. The goal is to score as many points as possible by hitting the ball to the opposing teams side and having it touch the ground. Here is the kicker, the participants are not allowed to have their butts leave the ground at any point in time. They can scoot anywhere on their side of the court but their butts cannot leave the ground. They can try to spike the ball but their butts cannot leave the ground. They can lunge to try and make a save but their butts cannot leave the ground.
I like this game because it takes very few supplies and it can be set up in any room that has enough space for chairs. Watching the kids try to hit a ball while also trying to have the self control of keeping themselves on the ground is an added bonus to the entertainment level. You can add to the atmosphere by talking like a sports announcer or throwing music in the background. Enjoy! :)
