Feb 27th, 2018 Plunger Party Relay Materials Needed: 4 standard plungers (red rubber head and wooden handle), nylon string, tennis balls. If the name of the game didn’t catch your eye, check out the “materials needed” section. Do I have your attention yet? I promise that you won’t be plunging toilets at the end of this, at least not as a result of the activity (we all know that youth ministry calls us to all kinds of tasks). This is a fun and silly game that will catch people’s attention and make them laugh!
Preparations: This game will require a little bit of preparation. First you will need to acquire an even number of standard plungers. You can increase or decrease the number based on the size of your group and how many teams you want. Remove the plunger heads from half of the batch. Attach the removed heads to the open end of a complete plunger. You might consider glueing the new head onto the end otherwise you risk it popping off multiple times. At the end of preparation it should look like an extreme plumbers tool with dual sided heads. Next, attach a piece of 3-4 ft nylon string to the center of the plunger handle with tape. Attach the loose end of the string through a punctured hole inside a tennis ball and tie it off so the tennis ball is secured to the string.
How To Play: Divide your participants into groups of two and have them form a line. The first two people in the front of the lines are the first players. Tell them to put the plunger heads onto their foreheads. They are only allowed to touch the rubber of the plunger, not the handle. When you say go they have to swing the tennis ball on the string completely around the center of the handle. Once the tennis ball is snug around the handle have the players unwrap it and hand it to the next two people in line. They will repeat the process until everyone in the line has gone. The first team to get through their lines wins!
